Circus Flora is a small one ring circus located in St. Louis. Founded in 1985 by David Balding, Sheila and Sam Jewell and Alexandre Sacha Pavata with dual mission of entertainment and education.

In contrast to other circuses, it tries to stimulate communication between its different artists. This is done through potlucks, positioning of the campers, trailers in a semi-circle, problem solving etc.

Circus Flora was established as a theatre company. This performing arts organization set out to acquaint audiences with the joy and power of the classic, European style, circus.

The circus was named after Flora, the orphaned baby African elephant David Balding had rescued in 1983 when ivory poachers in Africa killed her mother.
